Help steer our group, as a member of our group leadership team

Approximate time required
estimated, 3 hours a month, or as decided by you

If you would like to help scouting but don't have the time to be a leader or helper, then our group trustee board is a great way of helping our group with minimal time commitment but maximum impact.

Our group leadership team plays a key role in the day-to-day running of our group. They work together, and shares tasks, to ensure that our scout group maintains an effective and motivated group of volunteers. They plan ahead to ensure our group continues to have sufficient volunteers and the resources needed to run an engaging programme, ensure that all our adults are appropriately skilled for the tasks that they are undertaking, and promote our opportunities to get involved and ensure that our group is valued, respected, and supported in our local community.

This is a rewarding role and is ideal if you would like to support the growth and development of young people and our leadership team but not by working directly with young people.

No previous experience of scouting or being a trustee is necessary. What’s more important is your own skills and experience as well as empathy with our mission and values. We provide a warm welcome, a sociable network and some short online learning to support you and to help you get started as well as lots of ongoing support.

Being just a small part of scouting is great fun and it goes without saying that supporting young people can be one of the most rewarding things you can do, plus it all looks good on your CV.
